Safety and Compatibility
- The dimmer operates at UK mains voltage, so installation should be performed by a qualified electrician .
- Compatible bulbs include incandescent and halogen bulbs up to 250W or dimmable LED bulbs up to 50W, with a maximum of 6 bulbs per dimmer .
- Do not use fluorescent, non-dimmable LED, or CFL bulbs, as this may damage the dimmer .
- The dimmer fits into a 25mm metal pattress or 35mm dry lining pattress box, but not a 4-lug box .
Physical Installation
- Turn off power to the circuit before installation.
- Remove the top and bottom lugs if the existing box is incompatible.
- Connect the dimmer according to the wiring diagram provided in the manual, ensuring all connections are secure .
- The dimmer can only be used in a two-way switching configuration with a Mi Home slave switch; using other switches may damage the device .
Pairing with Mi Home Gateway
- Ensure the dimmer is powered off, then turn it on.
- Open the Mi Home app and select “Add new device”, then choose “Dimmer” .
- Follow the on-screen instructions: press and hold the dimmer button for at least 8 seconds until the LED flashes, then release .
- The LED will flash rapidly for a few seconds to indicate pairing, then turn off when complete.
- The dimmer should now appear in the device list; this may take a few seconds depending on network speed .
- A single press of the button while flashing will exit pairing mode.
Additional Notes
- The dimmer can be paired with up to 3 separate Gateways; additional pairings will overwrite previous ones .
- Resetting the dimmer clears all paired devices.
- Once paired, the dimmer can be controlled manually via the push button or remotely through the Mi Home app or browser . Following these steps ensures your Mi Home dimming module is safely installed, correctly paired, and ready for both manual and remote control.
