Genew Technologies and Zhongshi Wosen, both Chinese companies, will help the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) build its fiber optic network. It was created in 2021 and works mainly in the field of new information technologies and the deployment of telecommunications infrastructures, both fixed and mobile. The Congolese Minister of Telecoms, Augustin Maliba, signed the related memorandum of understanding (MoU) on April 7, 2025. The project will see the partners deploy 1700km of fibre. SOCOF is a one-person limited company in which the Congolese State is the sole shareholder.
